San Francisco’s Silicon Valley studs are moving away from their uniforms of hoodies and relaxed fit 501s to a more polished look. Bonobos, one of our favorite lines for casual-cool duds, opened up it’s very first West Coast Guideshop right near Union Square a few years ago and this past week, Canadian custom suit makers Indochino have opened their very first West coast showroom in the city, guys a place to suit up in style.

Canadian label Indochino is known for crafting custom suits for guys in New York and Canada (where the brand already has showrooms open) as well as the rest of the world through online sales. The brand is the world’s leader in online custom suiting, boasting fans from all over the globe. Guys love how easy it is to measure themselves — it takes just 10 minutes — and all of the customization options. But like other brand that have moved from online-only to brick and mortar, Indochino wanted to give guys a chance to see, touch and feel all of the different fabrications, sizes and more that they had on offer. In the past few years, men have been gravitating to custom online ordering because it offers the customization and fit of a bespoke suit without the price tag, which can easily start in the four-digit range at menswear brands such as Ralph Lauren and Berluti. Indochino keeps prices down by manufacturing in Shanghai while still sourcing fabrics (suits are crafted from Australian Merino wool) from the finest mills in Italy and China.

The San Francisco showroom is staffed with expert tailors that will measure customers and guide them on the creation of their custom suit. The brand’s most popular option, the Essential Navy Suit, starts at just $449 and is a great way for guys to experience the custom made experience. After customizing a suit, which includes choosing buttons, pocket placement, lapel width, collar felts and more, guys can expect to receive their creations after just four weeks.

In addition to custom suiting, Indochino also offers custom shirts as well. Accessories aren’t customizable, but the brand offers ties, cufflinks and pocket squares to outfit their clientele. The San Francisco store has a few exclusives, including the Natural Basketweave Jacket, Midnight Shadow Checkerboard Luxury Suit, Midnight Split Stripe Twill Luxury Suit, and the Midnight Tonal Twill Luxury Shirts, which won’t be available anywhere else.

Ready to go custom? Expect your first appointment to last about 30 minutes, where an expert tailor will take your measurements and walk you through the process of choosing each detail. In just four weeks you’ll have your custom creation — we recommend a monogram inside, because you might as well let everyone know you’ve got a one-of-a-kind suit — and if there’s anything wrong or something’s just not right, Indochino’s customer service will work to ensure your suit fits your exact expectations.
