Huntington Beach based lifestyle line TravisMathew has opened up its very first retail space at Fashion Island, bringing the brand’s unique vision of golf, leisure and performance together in a one-of-a-kind space that’s sure to be a mainstay among the legions of laid-back surfers, golf fanatics and more in Newport Beach.
“We are excited about opening our first retail store in Fashion Island and this has been a dream of ours since the beginning,” said Travis Brasher, CEO of TravisMathew. “The store provides us with an amazing opportunity to showcase the breadth of our entire product offering in a way that best represents the lifestyle of TravisMathew.”
TravisMathew started out in 2007 as a golf-centric brand, but soon after it gained traction among golf pros, the guys started to wear the goods off of the green. The company then grew to span an entire collection of men’s apparel whether they were getting dressed for work or play, with each and every piece inspired by the culture and lifestyle of Southern California.
“We are looking forward to finally having the opportunity to share the entire TravisMathew vision and product range with the public. There is no substitute for getting direct feedback from your customers and this store will finally allow us to do that,” said Brasher.
Today, the brand spans golf-ready polo shirts, shorts and more, but guys can also stock up on casualwear such as t-shirts and canvas sneakers as well as knitwear, shirting and jackets that look great in offices as well as out on the links. TravisMathew has even expanded to include a line for kids, Little Swingers, that takes the spirit of fun and function that’s at the core of the brand and shrinks it down for little guys.
“The building of the retail store has been a interesting journey. With the doors now open and the store operational the vision has come to life,” said Chris Rosaasen, Chief Creative Officer of TravisMathew. “The goal was to create an environment where ‘Travis Mathew’ would spend his time. Since no one knows who ‘Travis Mathew’ is, it’s nice to give them an idea of what his home looks like.”
The Fashion Island store is the only place you can find the entire collection under one roof, including the brand’s collaborations with fellow So-Cal brand Stance Socks, a capsule collection with AG jeans, limited edition items and more.
“Because design is so subjective everyone will have their own opinion of what the store looks like and what it stands for,” adds Rosaasen “And that’s what I love about design. I’m excited for our customers and fans to come see the store and receive feedback.”
The store’s equipped with sleek glass fixtures, a great display case for the brand’s baseball caps and a beachy white and dark wood design that the perfect blend of coastal cool and masculine retreat. In fact, the weekend after the store opened, we spied tennis champ Andy Roddick shopping and taking in a few games of ping pong while browsing the brand’s wares. Stop in to grab some great new duds and take in a game or two – because you never know which one of TravisMathew’s celeb fans might be ready to challenge you to a game.
