While matte skin has been in for the past few seasons, NARS has been test driving its dewy, not-yet-released Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer on models at both the Mandy Coon and the Joy Cioci spring 2012 shows at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. And who better to test it on?!

For Mandy Coon, who was inspired by the rocks and crystals she collected as a child, NARS makeup artist Francelle steered clear of the metallic and textural accents of the clothes. “It’s girly because of the eye color, but it’s tough since there’s no eyeliner,” said Francelle. “The skin is dewy for a really whimsical, effortless effect. I also took a cue from Mark Rothko’s color-blocking and created a modern version on the eye with purple and pink.” In addition to using the new tinted moisturizers, Francelle created a rosy lip with Bilbao and Valparaiso Pure Matte Lipstick, both available from Nars in Spring 2012.
And while Coon’s show put the emphasis on models’ eyes, at Joy Cioci nobody could take their peepers off of the models’ neon lips. Coon said that the collection was inspired by the pursuit of love, and the clothes echoed that with both hard and soft details paired with vibrant colors. Inspired by that, NARS International Lead Makeup Artist Uzo used classic NARS shades like Heat Wave and Jungle Red on the lips (which we most definitely loved). Eyes were simpler with loads of Larger Than Life Mascara and Lhasa, a new eye shadow single debuting in 2012. “Radiant skin is having a moment again. We were seeing very matte skin throughout the past few seasons, but dewiness is back, paired with a precisely-lined, bold lip. It’s elegant but it’s tough.”
