Baby-faced Miranda Kerr didn’t just pose for the fans at the South Coast Plaza Victoria’s Secret store. To celebrate the brand’s re-opening, she posed with fans and graciously took photos long past the scheduled time. The new store wasn’t the only reason she and her angel pals came to Orange County, though. The self-professed sexiest night on television, also known as the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, was live-streamed for revelers at the Samueli Theatre at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, letting everyone get a few minutes in heaven.
The store features oversized chandeliers (VS isn’t a brand known for subtlety, after all) and lingerie-inspired detailing like a corset-lace accented pink facade. It’s also got a dedicated PINK area for the brand’s college-aged fans and a store-in-store for the Victoria’s Secret beauty line. And while the new store impressed, Kerr herself was also nothing short of stunning. The lines wrapped throughout the Sears wing of the center, with fans snapping shots of the angel while they waited for precious moments with Kerr herself.
After the grand re-opening, Kerr was joined by fellow angels Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge at the Samueli Theatre for a screening of the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. While they were mobbed by photogs on the pink carpet (naturally) Kerr was bombarded with baby questions, but what we wanted to know was the difference between the televised Victoria’s Secret show and the Balenciaga runway in Paris. “Well for Victoria’s Secret show they encourage us to interact with the audience and smile. It’s about personality,” Kerr said. “But for Balenciaga it’s totally different. There’s none of that.” And was it it hard to go from one to the other, “Oh, not at all,” she said, almost giggling, “It’s easy.”
Inside, the theater was strewn with popcorn and cake pops (in pink, of course) that we saw Ambrosio actually eat. The show was streamed live for the audience, who applauded every pass by Kerr, Aldridge and Ambrosio as well as the performances by Kanye West and Jay-Z. Signature cocktails were rimmed with 24 karat gold dust, but the real sparkle came from the 2.5 million dollar fantasy bra, which was on display throughout the screening. While not a particularly wearable piece, the bra still managed to shine when Kerr showcased it during the show. While the whole spectacle was a far cry from anything that Balenciaga would present, the practically hypnotized audience seemed to be just fine with the winks and kisses from the runway.
